Thanks Andy

I hope I'm not being a pain by asking, but how many audio tracks would I be able to work with on Adobe Premiere Elements?

For instance, on Avid Xpress Pro - which I've been 'using' át work, there seems to be an unlimited number of extra tracks (both audio and video) which you can add.

Would it be worth paying the extra and getting Avid Liquid (or Pinnacle Liquid as it's now called)? If I were to do that, presumably that would also have multi audio and video track capability, although obviously less scope than Xpresas Pro?

cheers

Hi Phil

Yes, Elements does allow for multitrack editing like avid but on a more limited scale. As a package it has a lot going for it, including relatively simple DVD output built in. Of course, there is the price too. At less than 100 quid I think it's a bargin

Hi Andy,

I was on one of your two-day JP video training courses in February in Preston and found it very helpful. I've since filmed and helped edit two packages, as well as work the camera on another one.

I have found the Avid Xpress Pro editing difficult but hope that the more I use it, the easier it will become (like most things).

On the above topic, you mention Adobe Premiere Elements. Does that program allow the use of multi-track editing, albeit on a less grand scale than Avid Xpress Pro?

just a reminder - the product is called Adobe Premiere (like a movie premiere), not Premier (like the football league). A small point but...even the link you added has the title Premiere in it :-)

[...] Software We use Final Cut Pro. It’s the industry standard for Macs. It may be best to learn video editing in an easier software like iMovie. All of the ideas and techniques that you master in iMovie will transfer directly to any other editing software. But there are so many functions that you need that aren’t available in iMovie. You’ll eventually need to get a higher-level editing system. Andy Dickinson did a good comparison of different options out there. [...]

[...] In the last of my series (honest) on editng apps (Pt2 and 3), rather than look for an all in one application for editing, I’m looking at apps that are designed to do a specific task in the editing process – the capability of which is missing in your current app – or specific things that might be worth having in a ‘toolkit’ – you never know when you might need it.
[...] So, I’m still plugging away at the final post in the editing apps series I started. I have fallen in to geek land and started to play with windows emulators on the Mac. It’s amazing how you can waste time on this stuff. Anyway, it’s getting there and I will post it by the end of the week [...]
